Modification and Replacement Parts Around the World
PMA Around the World
Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) parts are used in aircraft all over the world. PMA parts represent a safe, cost effective alternative to parts manufactured by OEMs. MARPA strives to increase awareness of the benefits of PMA parts worldwide. This page is dedicated to supporting this effort.
EASA Decision No 2007/003/C, Accepting PMAs
Released on July 16, 2007 by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), this decision indicated that EASA would accept certain PMA parts designed in the U.S. pursuant to the FAAs PMA regulations.
Released on March 6, 2009 by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Replacement Parts: Preliminary Regulatory Impact Assessment reviews the existing EASA Part 21 regulations, and compares them with the current FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) regulations. The assessment concludes that EASAs current regulations are sufficient to support the approval of aftermarket aircraft parts, similar to the FAAs PMA approval, and that EASA needs to issue better guidance to permit the EASA regulations to be used in this way.
